Osama Bin Laden’s Al Qaeda organisation continues with its customary propaganda war against the west via its media arm. In a very first for the terror organisation, Al Qaeda supporters and sympathisers have been asked to appear in an online interview with the number two leader Ayman Al Zawahri. A quick succession of video releases over the past few days proves that Al Qaeda is closely keeping an eye on every international move and that the US is far from hunting down the terrorist leaders.

The call to join an online discussion with the number two leader of Al Qaeda is a clear indication that the organisation, apart from ridiculing Washington and its allies, is on a mission to spread its influence throughout the world. With the British handing over the control of southern Iraq to the local authorities, the Al Qaeda thinks it to be the right time to have a foothold on the political situation in southern Iraq, including the oil-rich city of Basra. This online interview session, many analysts believe, is nothing but a recruitment programme for the daring terror network.

Another thing that has made western intelligence agencies monitor carefully is the fact that in all the recent video releases by the Al Qaeda, its Ayman Al Zawahri that has appered the most compared to numero uno Osama Bin Laden. May be an ailing Osama Bin Laden is making way for Al Zawahri to take up the leadership of the organisation or it could be that the Saudi fugitive is too ill to appear in the videos. Whatever may be the situation within the Al Qaeda, it is clear that the top leaders have been able to hide from US manhunt and launch both propaganda and terror attacks against the west with utmost ease.
