Ramsey Clark, a former US attorney general, who is on Mr. Saddam Hussein’s defence team, failed to appear in court recently due to security considerations. He is not the first man to feel the pinch. Another teammate in the battery of lawyers and former Qatari Justice Minister Najib al-Nuami alleged that he was pushed around and threatened by hostile crowds soon after his arrival in Baghdad, capital of Iraq. Two defence attorneys have already lost their lives in violent incidents since Mr. Hussein’s trail began on October 19.



On the other hand, the US army remain subject to unending attacks at the hands of irate Iraqis. Why is it so that the US army which got the Iraqis rid off the tyrannous regime of Mr. Saddam Hussain is getting brickbats instead of bouquets? Why these confusing signals?
