‘Failed States’ in the world

Not less than 60 states in the world today have been designated as the ‘failed states’, for one reason or other by a recent Foreign Policy journal report. A failed state is one which is undergoing violent turmoil, such as civil war or genocide, that endangers the lives of many of its citizens as well as jeopardising regional security. The list does not seem to be an exhaustive one as there are many other states in the world which have all the attributes of a failed state listed in the same document. Moreover, there are some ‘rogue’ states engaged in their nefarious activities.
