Iran’s stubborn attitude on nuclear installations and the vehement opposition by the West to the resumption of nuclear research by Iran seems to a game in which all the players including Iran are playing to the gallery.
Israel too has drawn up plans for strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities with bunker busting bombs supplied by the U.S. Russia has stepped up pressure on Iran not to resume nuclear research, urging Teheran to abide by its moratorium and fully cooperate with the United Nations nuclear watchdog. But Iran has threatened to stop cooperating with the UN if the issue is referred to the Security Council. The U.S. and the EU’s three biggest powers said a day earlier that talks with Iran to curb its nuclear programme were at an impasse and Tehran should be brought before the Security Council.
The U.K. has ruled out military action against Iran over its nuclear programme and sought to dismiss veiled American threats as routine pressure tactics.
The U.S. occupation of Iraq has turned its neighbour, Iran, into a new regional power. In fact, non-Arab Iran is now the main state patron of radical Islamism in the Arab world. But, will the Islamist terrorists, imbibing deep hared for Shia Muslims accept the changed scenario? Iran is the Shia state in the Arab world.
The hawk, Ahmadinejad, President of Iran has gained notoriety for outbursts against the West and the U.S. in particular over the issue.
Interestingly, countries who have ganged up against Iran on the nuclear installations are those who are themselves equipped with nuclear arms and are not inclined to abandon the nuclear arns race while using every tricks in their armours to deter other countries from joining the nuclear arms race.
