The Iraq’s deposed tyrant Saddam Hussein has alleged: “I have been beaten on every place of my body, and the signs are all over my body”. He was speaking in the courtroom where he is being tried for crimes against humanity. If the allegations are true, no sane person would condon such abuse of human rights. But Mr. Saddam Hussein will now feel the pinch and would realise how unhuman was it to unleash a reign of terror on innocent citizens. He is reaping what did he sow. Human rights are a ear-pleasing slogan but when it comes to oneself, its connotations alter dramatically.
