The demand by Muslims in Milan (Italy) to set up a school where their children can learn Arabic and the Koran alongside the normal state curriculam cannot be justified. It smacks sectarian approach for which Muslims have already earned notoriety. None should or can deny a Muslim from imparting religious education at home but to demand for a seperate school with such facilities will only further widen the existing gulf between the Muslim residents of Italy and the suspicious Italians.
The saner elements in the Muslim community should come out to resist any such activity which gives a chance to persons like Oriana Fallachi for unleashing her vitrolic comments on Islam and Muslims.
