“The UN report is baseless propaganda collected by people who want inflict harm on Islamic Courts success in Somalia”
– Shiek Hassan Dahir Aweys, the UIC judiciary leader.
“An already difficult and volatile situation could be further complicated by neighbouring countries rushing in with troops or guns to support one side or the other.”
– Kofi Annan.
The truth is definitely out there. With the current international political scenario and media’s role in representing news, the truth is flying far.
On 13th November Reuters reported exclusive news on an advance copy of UN commissioned report. The report accuses ten nations and various established militant groups of providing active supports in form of arms, ammunitions, trainings and troops to the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia and its rival Islamic Courts Union. Somalia is suffering long from its political unrest after Mohamed Siad Barre’s reign in 1991. UN has imposed an arms embargo on Somalia in 1992. But violating the rule, various nations are exchanging firearms and military trainings and troops secretly for long. Moreover, it accuses Iran for buying Uranium from Somali Uranium heap in exchange of arms. The UN report offers evidence for the first time of active foreign involvement in Somali problems. It warns of war between Ethiopia and Eritrea, the main forces backing the ICU and TFG of Somalia. It also foresees internal insurgency in Somalia. Against this report many nations have already reacted and refused the charge sharply.

Against this background it is clear that the world is divided in two lobbies. The division at times is coming on religious basis as - anti-Islamic supporters (TFG supporters) and Islamic supporters (ICU supporters). This conception has been stressed by the USA’s involvement (as alleged by officials of Somalia’s interim government) with anti-Islamic force; on the background of current USA policy to the middle-east Asian Islamic states. The fact that Somalia is a pocket of Uranium fuels another dimension of foreign interest in Somalia.
Whether the UN allegation is true or not is a matter of investigation. But it is clear that the People of Somalia and world is being constantly threatened by forecasting of war and terrorism. An atmosphere of fear and unrest is being created. The future is becoming uncertain. The objective of terrorism is to promote terrorism. And it is successfully doing so.
The complex political play of few is costing life of innocents. The arena of future wars is being prepared. The gathering storms are covering the transparency of sight and life.
