After civilians paying the price for the ambush going on between NATO forces and the Taliban, now its children who are losing their lives. Nine people, five of them children, were killed in a suicide bomb attack on an army convoy in Afghanistan on Sunday.
The suicide bomber ran his car into an army convoy in Mehtarlam, the provincial capital of eastern Laghman province, and killed two soldiers, police said. The children along with two other civilians were near the attack and died in the attack.
Yar Mohammad, a senior provincial police official, told Reuters
It was a suicide attack and several civilians were also wounded apart from civilian deaths
According to witnesses, a dozen people, including the troops were wounded in the attack. No claim was made regarding the attack at first, but it seems that this is one more addition to the numerous suicide attacks launched by the Taliban against the western forces.
The ’spring offensive’ as its known, had led to a sudden and sharp rise in the number of suicide attacks in Afghanistan in the past year.
