The recent jab by the US President Bush at the Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is a pointer to the fact that the US suffers from Chavezphobia in the manner as it used to be the prey to the Castrophobia in the past. Bush was participating in the 34-member Summit of the Americas in Argentina. It would have been better if Bush could restrain to refer to Chavez at all and prefer to ignore him as he stayed away from Chavez in the Summit. Castro was not invited to the Summit. Chavez along with four other countries including Brazil blocked progress on the US-backed ‘Free Trade Area of the Americas’ (FTAA).
